Padma Shri Jugal Kishore Chowdhury belonged to the first generation of architects in post‐independent India. As such, he
was one of the path finders who energised the initiation of aspiring Indian architects to the world of modern architecture.
His outstanding contributions in architecture and town planning is a legacy from which generations of young architects can reap
rich dividends.
It is the effort of the Jugal Kishore Chowdhury Charitable and Educational Trust that an attempt has been made to rediscover
and appreciate the amazing architectural masterpieces created by him. A lot of research has been done to know and understand
JKC, the architect, the man and his mind. Through old friends, colleagues, family and students, a substantial amount of
information has been compiled, regarding his work and his life.
